Looking for a great family outing? A gold panning adventure is an exciting, educational, and fun group activity. Here at the Outpost Gold & Gem Mine, we offer traditional gold panning with our exclusive Georgia Gold Rush Paydirt! Our trained staff will teach you the art of gold panning just like the old‑timers did it.

After you find your treasure, your gold will be placed in a bottle for you to keep as a souvenir. Our gold panning instructors are friendly, experienced, and love helping guests of all ages. Come experience the wonder and excitement of panning for gold in a pleasant, comfortable atmosphere. All of our panning tables are covered, and we’re open rain or shine, 7 days a week!

Georgia Gold Rush Paydirt

What is paydirt? It’s concentrated gold‑bearing ore where much of the extra dirt has been removed—so you’re guaranteed gold in every bucket. Our exclusive concentrated paydirt is mined just outside Helen, Georgia in Dukes Creek, site of the first major gold rush in America.

At the Outpost, we offer several paydirt buckets to choose from. Each one varies in size and gold concentration, but they’re all loaded with fun and excitement. They’re perfect for any level of miner, from beginners to seasoned prospectors. We recommend planning at least an hour or more for any of the buckets below, especially for first‑timers. All equipment is provided.
